CORPORATE BACKGROUND

CONTECH is a consulting organization that combines technically experienced management with professionals and experts in the fields of construction, architecture, engineering, surety, procurement, contracts, operations, project management, work-outs, dispute resolutions, accounting, project development and finance involving the construction and surety industry.

In 1990, CONTECH’s Principals established the firm to bring their ideas, skills, knowledge and experience together with that of their Associates to provide comprehensive, professional services to its customers for construction and surety consulting, construction project services and dispute resolution. CONTECH’s qualifications and substantial expertise are drawn from the combined experience, education, capabilities and knowledge of its Principals and Associates.

Dispute Resolution.

The Principals have conducted complex investigative and analytical engagements involving construction claims, schedule delays, surety bond claims and professional liability claims; they have provided litigation support and expert testimony for owners, lenders, underwriters, engineers, architects, contractors and subcontractors.

Surety Consulting.

The Principals have assisted sureties in managing and resolving performance and payment bond disputes and have provided technical and professional assistance under preauthorized scopes and budgets for effective cost control. For example, they have performed cost-to-complete estimates on multiple project defaults, supervised the financing of principals by managing project completion and cost, performed project completion assistance post-termination to minimize loss dollar payout, provided negotiation and mediation assistance to bring about quick claim resolution, and prepared affirmative and defensive claims (in litigation) on behalf of the sureties and the principals.

Construction Project Services.

The Principals and Associates have planned, designed, constructed and managed projects for federal, state and local governments, for bilateral and multilateral institutions and private sector owners. In addition, they have performed pre-project services such as economic, technical and financial feasibility studies. They have also directed and managed the turnaround of troubled projects.

CONTECH’s primary business location is its Paeonian Springs, Virginia office. Its offices are equipped with state-of-the-art computer-based systems for automated information tracking and retrieval, data processing and engineering calculations, scheduling, accounting, computer aided design, drafting and 3-D modeling.

CONTECH’s lean core size, ability to rapidly expand its resources with its associates, extraordinary degree of technical competence, and diversity of individual talent permits it to respond with the competence and speed which comes from practical experience, allowing it to effectively perform each assignment often exceeding the expectation of its clients.

CONTECH’s Principals and Associates have the practical, hands-on knowledge that comes from continually performing construction, construction-related and surety assignments including project management, engineering and construction, managing of design-build projects, performing in the capacity of a hard-dollar contractor (when requested); planning and scheduling engineering and construction; conceptual and detailed estimating; job cost accounting and cost engineering; project development and project workouts.
